Area Commissioner Adult Presentation Evening(Leaders, helpers and Administrators) - November 2000

This new a new approach has been taken to the Area Presentation Evening and the Adults had a seperate evening on their own where Long Service Awards, Medals of Merit, bars to medal of Merits, a Silver Acorn and two Chief Scout's Commendatioins for Meritous Conduct were presented to 17 recipients.

The Area Commissioners Presentation Evening for Scouts and Venture Scouts is being held later in the year at Rugby Park, Kilmarnock.

Ayrshire Practical Scouting Course - September 2000

The last week-end of this years Practical Scouting Course took place at Nether Auchendrane Guide Site over the second week-end of September. Despite the inclement weather the particiants camped for the week-end and were in high spirits when the photographer called in at 10am on the Sunday morning.

Ayrshire Leader Training L2 Course - June 2000

18 Leaders took part in the final part of their Leadership 2 Training Course at the Ayrshire South Guide Chalet at Nether Auchendrane over the second week-end of June. Everyone had a great week-end and gained a lot from the course and it's tutors and each other through the exchange of ideas and experiences.

Kyle District Camping Skills week-end

  

Cub Scouts and Scouts from the various groups in Kyle District had a great weekend at Glenside, even though Saturday afternoon tended to be rather chilly. The youngsters learned a lot about the set up camp site, the correct way to pitch a tent, and as can be seen in the pictures above, how to set up a safe wood cut area on a camp site and how to use the various types of small cookers that they might come across during their time in the Scouts.

Carrick District Scout Pioneering Project

Scouts from Ballantrae and Maybole tried their hand at some traditional Scout Pioneering during a week-end at Straiton, when they build this bridge over the River Girvan.
